With the summer sunshine finally showing and the V-Dub Island 2012 just around the corner, we found this article in our inbox from Dennis at Vectis Radar, the independant website promoting local music.

With the hot weather arriving on the Isle of Wight, our attention is turning to the impressive V-Dub Festival, which is held on the County Showground (in between Newport and Cowes).
Last year, we were very impressed with the all-round feel of V-Dub. It has a very chilled out feeling which compares brilliantly to some of the bigger -and less friendly- festivals on the south coast.
V-Dub is all about celebrating the ‘VW’ brand, whether that be Campervans or Beetles, the idea is that people turn up in their beautiful little machines and celebrate an icon of the roads. Some of the VW’s will have been modified by the owners. The love and affection shown by those who bring their VW is just incredible.
The other side of the festival is the amount of high quality music they put on show. The organiser Airon Baker, has a keen eye for the best local music – and this shows in the line-up he has come up with for 2012.
We’re expecting big things from The Vecks, who are fresh from releasing their second EP – and are currently working on their new album. This will be a return to V-Dub, but with a different line up – and an even better sound. The boys have worked hard over the past 12 months and we’re excited by what is ahead for them.
The Golden Strands are another band we’ve been talking about for a long time. The band have taken time out to perfect, what was already a unique and interesting sound. They’re now back touring and have smashed their old sound to pieces. The Golden Strands are now even sexier, even angrier and are out to impress people at this years V-Dub.
Another band we think will go down well with the crowd are the Ohmz, they’ve taken Reggae and given it meaning once more. With the sun shining, with the great feeling of V-Dub Island and with the Ohmz playing their songs. Things could get very chilled out this year.
EnglanE has had one of the most incredible years so far. After releasing her debut EP she was praised by none other than Katy Perry and Johnny Depp. This was followed up by successful set on the Garden Stage at this years Isle of Wight Festival. And now, she’s playing V-Dub festival, if you’re lucky you might get to hear a track from her new EP which she has been busy recording.
As you can see, the local talent put together by Airon and his crew is just incredible. We’ve got bands who have played the o2 arena, Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival. And we haven’t even managed to get through to some of the other brilliant bands playing.
We’re also looking forward to Born Ina Barn, Goodbye Stereo, Southern Big Man, Stu Collins, Blackhouse Crow… We could go on about how brilliant V-Dub is, but we suggest you come along and find out for yourself.
And we haven’t even mentioned the fact that Rob da Bank and the Dub Pistols will be headlining. £25 for all of this and more? We’re in! – check out http://www.v-dubisland.com for the full lineup
